ABOUT THE ARTIST

Sally Cays watercolor paintings reflect her love of intense color and strong contrasts, and express the beauty she sees in the world around her with what she calls "the luminous quality of watercolor."

Although most of her paintings are florals and still lifes, as she has grown in her art she has included wildlife, landscape, and portrait paintings; as well as award-winning, highly detailed charcoal drawings. In addition she takes an occasional flight of fantasy into paintings of dragons, and drawings of trolls

Ms. Cays is a primarily self-taught artist who has original paintings and prints of her paintings in collections both across this country and internationally. She has been represented by galleries in Washington, Oregon, and California. Her original paintings are currently featured at the Waterfront Art Gallery in Port Angeles, Washington. An instructor for her popular watercolor workshops, Sally currently has one online course, "Portraits of Children", available for enrollment.

Sally's work has been featured and has won awards in regional, national, and international exhibitions. She is a signature member of The Northwest Watercolor Society, a member of the National Watercolor Society, and a member of the American Watercolor Society, and a juried member of Women Painters of Washington. An original watercolor "From Our Garden" is featured in the book "Splash 5; the Glory of Color"; and three of her paintings, "Trilogy", "Tribute", and "Saturday Market" are included in the book "Splash 6; The Magic of Texture" published by Northlight Books.
